What is your name?

Jacob Jackson

Where are you from?

Dallas, TX (Oak Cliff)

What is one of your goals/aspirations?

Open a private school that sets kids up for the life that is ahead of them.

What made you decide to loc your hair?

one of the reasons was my mother. She has sisterlocs and when she started her locs I learned to appreciate not just how gorgeous locs are but how unique they are. Before I decided to loc I missed having long hair so I sought a way to have long hair but to where it was a professional look. Once I got brotherlocs it was no longer about having long hair. It became about strength, commitment, patience, and changing my life for the better.

How long have you been loc’d?

A little over 6 and a half years. It will be 7 around Christmas.

What do you do for loc maintenance?

My mother tightens then every 6-8 weeks. They’re interlocked so she uses a tool to maintenance them.

If you use products, what’s your favorite product?

NA-PCA mixed with a couple of drops of Lavender and Rosemary. For washing I’d have to say Paul Mitchell shampoo.

Any advice you would give to someone who wants locs?

Know that having locs is essentially a relationship with a significant other in that they require commitment, patience, and TLC. You may think the journey is going to forever be rough, but it will be one of the best decisions you ever make in life.

Random Question: What is your favorite part about having locs?

My favorite part about having locs is that they represent me as a person: committed, loyal, unique, etc.
