According to CBS Local News: “The Broward State Attorney’s Office has filed a notice that they plan to seek the death penalty against rapper YNW Melly in the deaths of his two friends.”
Jamell Maurice Demons, also known as YNW Melly, is an American rapper, singer from Florida. His most popular and breakout song was “Murder on My Mind“. One of his latest major hits was a collaboration with Kanye West on “Mixed Personalities“.
Earlier this year he was charged with first-degree murder. The Florida rapper allegedly murdered two other rappers in the YNW crew, staged the scene, and made it look like a drive-by shooting.
Broward prosecutors have made it clear that are seeking the death penalty against Demons.
A lot of young people listen to this young man and I’d imagine a lot of them imitate his image and persona. I hope those who chose to follow this young man’s example are aware and prepared for what comes with that lifestyle. It shouldn’t be ‘cool’ to follow a guy that murdered his friends, covered it up, lied about it, and went on living life as if everything was ok.
However, this is the image of the black male that has become the archetype of the black youth. Many young black men and women no nothing of the geniuses amongst us today nor the legends of the past. All they know, is what the media outlets (which are all controlled and financed by white supremacists) tell them and ‘allow’ them to see. Perhaps, if more black youth received a culturally relevant education with an accurate anthropologic record of their ancestors accomplishments then the youth wouldn’t fall for the okie doke.
This is not the case, so there are millions of young men like YNW Melly who lack knowledge of self and are manipulated by the system of white supremacy to become “agents” for their agenda. In other words, there are millions of black youth doing the will of the white supremacist by murdering other black people. We have to do so much better….
