Head Of NFL Sponsored Chicago Charity Apologizes For Cutting Dreadlocks Of Black Youth

Founder of Chicago’s “Crusher Club” whom was recently awarded $200,000 by the NFL’s activism initiative apologizes after 2016 photo resurfaces of her cutting locs off of black boys and saying it was for “a better life”.

Photos from a few years ago were found by a Twitter user showing Sally HazelGrove, founder of the Crusher Club in Engelwood, cutting dreadlocks off of black youth in the name of “a better life.”

The NFL had recently sponsored the Crusher Club with a heft donation and there has been a backlash from the public because of their charity choice. NBC Chicago 5 reported that “The head of a Chicago charity that has been awarded $200,000 by the NFL’s new social activism initiative is apologizing for her social media posts from 2016 that show her cutting the dreadlocks of two teen boys.” Hazelgrove who’s children are supposedly biracial apologized for the “insensitivity” of her posts and defended herself stating “I did not have any type of agenda. He asked me to cut his hair. I cut it just like when the kids ask me to do anything. We’re a family here.

One of the boys in the pictures, Kobe Richardson, confirmed that he asked Hazelgrove for a haircut and that he knew the photo would be posted to social media back in 2016.
