Sample Text: (pg. 254) “The ideas that Africans were in the New World three thousand years ago is hard for many people to believe, even among the educated classes; for old stereotypes die hard. But there is not lack of evidence in this respect. J. A, Rogers, in Africa’s Gift to America, cites Latin-American scholars on the African influence in America. For example, C.C. Marquez is quoted as saying: “The Negro type is seen in the most ancient Mexican sculpture….Negroes figure frequently in the most remote traditions.”. From the Mexican historian, Riva-Palacia, we have the following: “It is indisputable that in very ancient times the Negro race occupied our territory [Mexico]….The Mexicans recalls a Negro god, Ixtilton, which means ‘black-face.'” And also we have the testimony Nicholas Leon, who declares that: “The almost extinction of the original Negroes during the time of the Spanish conquest and the memories of them in the most ancient traditions induce us to believe that the Negroes were the first inhabitants of Mexico.””
Sample Text: (pg.26) “When in 1862 a colossal granite head of a Negro was found in the Canon of Tuxtla. near the place where the most ancient of pre-Columbian statuettes were discovered, the historian Orozco y Berra declared in his History of the Conquest of Mexico that there was to bound to be an important and intimate relationship between the Mexicans and Africans in the pre-Columbian past. In his time, however, the Negroid heads could be not conclusively dated. We know now, without a shadow of a doubt, through the most modern methods of dating, that some of the Negroud stone heads found among the Olmecs and in other parts of Mexico and Central America are from as early as 800 to 700 B.C. Clearly American history has to be reconstructed to account for this irrefutable piece of archaeological data. Explanations, not excuses, have got to be found. The implications of these discoveries can longer be dismissed or ignored. The time has come to disperse the cloud of silence and skepticism that has settled over this subject for a century.“
Sample Text: (pg.12) ” Negroes lived in America thousands of years before Columbus. Central American monuments show numerous carving of them as gods. When Columbus came to the New World, Negroes had been crossing from Africa to South America a distance of 1600 miles. The first white men to reach the American mainland, tell of seeing Negroes. Columbus who visited South America said that he had head of them there.”
