‘The Marathon Book Club’ Is Uniting Black Readers Throughout U.S. In Honor Of Nipsey’s Book List

Many people view Nipsey Hussle as “one of the greatest to ever do it”. This is perhaps why loved ones, fans and spectators are still trying to figure out exactly how he did it. The people want to know, what was the engine behind his massive success and extraordinary accomplishments?

Nipsey often accredited his growing success to the knowledge he learned and applied from his reading.

‘The Marathon Book Club’ was inspired by Nipsey supporters who wanted to honor his life, lessons, and love for literature – uniting black readers across America with the list of books that contributed to Nipsey’s success and prolific mindset.

The Los Angeles Times reports: “A 31-year-old fan from Wisconsin created a meme listing all of the books that Hussle had mentioned in interviews, songs and motivational messages that she had been compiling for years. It includes self-help bestsellers, cult classics and little-known books by black authors. The list went viral. Now, almost a year later, 74 black men and two Latinos make up the four chapters of The Marathon Book Club. They meet monthly in OaklandNew York and Washington, D.C., in addition to L.A., to discuss the books that motivated Hussle.

“People don’t realize how a man’s whole life can be changed by one book.”
