The planet is heating up.
Although the reasons why the planet is heating up are still up for debate, the truth remains the same.
The Arctic is literally on fire in some places, Associated Press reported, “The Arctic is feverish and on fire — at least parts of it are. And that’s got scientists worried about what it means for the rest of the world.”
The Arctic in general has been experiencing an alarming and unprecedented heat wave for a while, it didn’t just begin.
However, over the past few months things have been considerably hotter than expected.
BBC News shared photos of the recent wildfires in Russia.
According to a National Geographic report: “An extended heat wave that has been baking the Russian Arctic for months drove the temperature in Verkhoyansk, Russia—north of the Arctic Circle—to 100.4°F on June 20, the official first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. This record high temperature is a signal of a rapidly and continually warming planet, and a preview of how Arctic warming will continue in an increasingly hot future, scientists say.”
Professional Meteorologist “Scott From Scotland” (@ScottDuncanWX) tweets a video that demonstrates how the heat wave is set to continue for the next few days. He says, “We are in a relentless Arctic #heatwave – Siberia is literally on fire right now and it’s set to continue. Temperatures will comfortably exceed + 30 °C within the Arctic Circle over the next 10 days at least. It is a staggering + 20-25 °C warmer than it should be…”
